Memberships
Membership with Te Tira Ahu Pae is free for all currently enrolled Massey University students across our three physical campuses and distance learning programs. As an incorporated society independent from the University, we represent over 25,000 students, ensuring equitable and inclusive services for everyone. We appreciate you choosing to become a member as it ensures our Incorporated Societies status under changes in the Incorporated Societies Act 2022, and gives you some additional benefits.
Why Become a Member?
As a member of Te Tira Ahu Pae, you gain voting rights and democratic power.
Your voice matters! As a member, you have the power to shape the future of Te Tira Ahu Pae and Massey University through our democratic processes, as outlined in our constitution:
Run for and Vote in Student Elections: Elect student representatives, who advocate for your needs. Elections occur annually (e.g., early 2026 elections for new reps), giving you a say in who represents you.
Influence at Massey University Committees and Boards: Student Reps elected by members sit on various Massey Boards and Committees, helping to echo your voice at all levels of decision making. Your vote helps choose this key advocate who influences university-wide decisions.
Participate in Referenda and Feedback: Have your say on proposed changes to our constitution or representation models. For example, in 2025, students will vote on updated representation models to ensure they meet your needs.
Attend Board Meetings: All students are welcome to join Part One of our monthly Board meetings, where you can voice concerns, propose ideas, and influence decisions. Meeting details are shared on our Events Calendar.
