Grappling Club

Albany Campus

Welcome to Massey University Albany Grappling Club!!!

Our Vision for this club is to create a social and positive environment where students from vastly different disciplines can come together as a community to learn and share the arts of Submission Grappling which encompasses Judo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Freestyle Wrestling, MMA and a lot more. We aim to create a uniquely fun and memorable experience for Massey University students, which you won't get from lectures, workshops, library and your generic sport clubs.

Regardless if you are a beginner who has no idea about any of these martial arts or a competitive veteran in your chosen Grappling Art, this club is a safe space for you to learn practical self-defence skill, pick up a new sport in the world of Martial Art or to refine pre-existing techniques and not to mention meeting a whole lot of cool people and creating long-term connections.

Not only will you learn how to defend yourself in real life scenarios and more than likely become addicted to the sport. Grappling will also teaches you discipline, perseverance, humility and grit which will massively improve your self-confidence. Plus it will help you burn more calories in an hour than your boring treadmill ever could (if you even stay on a treadmill for that long anyway).

We welcome all skill levels and we have professional beginner-friendly classes every Monday and Wednesday. By completing this form https://forms.gle/7pghmcBjifqy6oyCA, you will have access to TWO FREE training sessions to see if the sport is for you. NO COMMITMENT REQUIRED.
