Volunteering at Te Tira Ahu Pae events is open to a wide range of students. We aim to make the opportunities available accessible, inclusive, and flexible.
Eligable Students
You can volunteer if you are:
- Currently enrolled for any course at Massey (Foundation, undergraduate, postgraduate, etc.)
- A full-time or part-time student
- A domestic student
- An international student
- An on-campus student
- A distance student
No previous volunteering experience is required; training and guidance will be provided.
What We're Looking For
We welcome students who are:
- Reliable and punctual
- Friendly and respectful
- Willing to work as part of a team
- Open to learning new skills
Different roles suit different strengths; whether you enjoy public-facing roles, behind-the-scenes support, digital content creation, or sustainability initiatives.

Time Commitment
Volunteering is flexible. You can:
- Sign up for a single event
- Support multiple events throughout the year
- Choose roles that fit around your academic schedule
Your studies always come first, and we understand that availability may change during assessment periods.
Who Cannot Volunteer?
While we aim to make volunteering as inclusive as possible, there are some circumstances where students may not be eligible to volunteer at events.
You may not be able to volunteer if you:
- Are not a currently enrolled Massey student
- Have active disciplinary restrictions that limit participation in university activities
- Are unable to commit to required training or event timings
- Are unable to meet essential safety requirements for specific roles (food handling or manual handling tasks, etc.)
- Have previously been excluding from volunteering due to a Volunteer Code of Conduct breach.
- Have a criminal history that may pose a risk to children, young people, or other vulnerable groups, particularly for events where volunteers will be working directly with these groups
Some roles may also require additional checks, certifications, or training before participation.
