Kia ora, I’m Takunda, a Bachelor of Communications student and former Vice President of Te Tira Ahu Pae on the Wellington campus. Serving as Vice President last year was one of the most valuable experiences of my university journey. It taught me that being a successful student representative isn’t just about meetings, it’s about being present, visible, and genuinely serving students where they are.

In Wellington, I made it a priority to get amongst the students and help build a vibrant, connected campus culture. I worked closely with students and staff to ensure they felt heard and supported, and I engaged with the Wellington City Mission on behalf of nursing students to provide grocery support. Every interaction mattered to me.

Now based in Auckland while completing an internship and extending my studies, I want to continue contributing at a broader level. Having served on the board over the summer and through the recent restructure, I understand how the association operates and how we can work together effectively. I’m committed to collaborating closely with student representatives across all campuses to ensure we are aligned, supportive of one another, and delivering the support every campus deserves.

University can be stressful. I believe it should also be meaningful, memorable, and enjoyable. I give 100% to my role, and I’m passionate about helping all Massey students feel supported, connected, and proud of their university experience.
