Hi! I’m Tiyana, I’m an international student here at Massey University. I was born in Sri Lanka, grew up in the Middle East, and then moved halfway across the world to study in New Zealand. This journey is what drives me to become a Student Representative; because I know what it’s like to be on the outside. I want the Massey community to be a place where students feel like they belong, just as I do now.
I’ve often had questions and found myself wondering, “Who do I even talk to about this?” while balancing study, work, and life in a new country. Experiences like that showed me how important clear communication and accessible support are, especially for international students.
If elected, I will work to make navigating university less confusing and more transparent. I'll listen to student feedback, raise concerns that often go unspoken, and help improve how information and support are shared across the university.
My goal is simple: to ensure all students feel represented and confident that their voice is being heard.
