Tēnā tātou katoa! Ko MJ tōku ikoa, he/him. I first studied at Massey via distance all the way back in 2016 when I completed a Certificate in Business Studies, and now I'm back working towards a Bachelor of Communication. I've seen a lot of changes in the way Massey has managed their Distance offering over the last decade and I believe very strongly in the importance of consistent, Distance-first cohort management for extramural students. I've been a class rep for the last three semesters and am always happy to speak up on behalf of my fellow students whenever we're facing an issue or a challenge, and I'd be delighted to bring that energy to a wider group than just my individual courses. What I'd love to achieve in my term is more of a focus from lecturers on designing their programs with Distance students in mind, not having the extramural option tacked on as an afterthought which unfortunately sometimes (but not always!!) happens, to our detriment.
