Hi! 

I’m Yuan, a Master of Food Technology student at Massey University. As an international student, I understand that university life can sometimes feel exciting, confusing, and a little overwhelming — especially when you are trying to balance study, work, and life in a new environment.

I’ve previously been a Class Representative and an International Student Leader at the University of Otago, as well as President of the Chinese Students’ Association. These experiences taught me that being a good representative is not just about speaking up, but also about listening to people and making sure their voices are heard.

I’m running for Student Representative because I’d like to help make student life more connected, supportive, and inclusive. If elected, I hope to create an open channel where students feel comfortable sharing their ideas or concerns, and work with the university to turn useful feedback into real improvements.

Most importantly, I want to be someone students can actually talk to — not just someone whose name is on a website.
