Hi!

I’m Wenying an international student studying a Master of Management in Marketing at the Ōtehā campus, and I’m currently a Class Representative.

I came to New Zealand to study this year, so I still remember how confusing things can feel at the beginning. It takes time to understand a new university system, study in another language, meet new people, and feel comfortable speaking up when you need help.

Being a Class Rep has made me realise that students sometimes have questions or concerns but are not sure who to talk to, or simply don’t feel confident speaking up. This is one of the main reasons I want to become an International Student Rep.

If elected, I want to be someone students feel comfortable talking to. I will listen to what students are actually experiencing and make sure their voices are heard. As a postgraduate student myself, I would also be happy to represent the wider postgraduate community.
