Afsar Hasan Jamil

Campus: Ōtehā/Albany

Kia ora!

I'm Afsar Hasan Jamil, and I'm currently completing my Master of Analytics (Business). Before Massey, I spent over ten years in business operations and analytics roles across the pharmaceutical, retail and manufacturing sectors, and I now balance postgraduate study with casual hospitality work. So I understand first-hand how students juggle deadlines, shifts and tight budgets.

I'm standing as a Student Rep because student feedback is often shared but rarely tracked through to a result. I want to be the person who makes sure concerns are raised clearly, backed by evidence, and followed up on.

In my term, I'd like to focus on three things: more consistent and timely assessment feedback; stronger support for postgraduate and part-time students, who can easily feel disconnected from campus life; and better industry and career links for our programmes.

What I bring is a decade of stakeholder management and an analyst's habit of turning scattered complaints into clear, actionable evidence plus the approachability to make sure people actually tell me what's wrong.
