Kia ora!

I’m MJ (he/him), and as President of Te Tira Ahu Pae I would make sure that every student across our physical campuses and our Distance cohort feels like they have a student association that genuinely works for them. I have studied at Massey on and off since 2016, been a class rep for at least a couple of my courses every semester since the beginning of 2025, and served as one of your Pāmamao/Distance Representatives in 2026.

This has given me a real understanding of how our university operates, as well as how Te Tira Ahu Pae functions to best serve and represent you. Over the past year, I’ve worked hard to build strong, collaborative relationships with my fellow general Distance Rep as well as the distance reps across our community representation groups, ensuring we’re connected and supporting each other's work. We have a hugely varied student body at Massey: your experience looks completely different if you're straight out of school learning to navigate campus life compared to someone juggling distance courses around work and family, or working through a postgraduate degree.

Te Tira Ahu Pae needs to be right there in the mix with all of us, easy to talk to and focused on fixing real, everyday student problems. Studying by distance means I’m not tied to a single physical campus, so I can split my time and focus across our whole network to keep us all connected. I’m ready to bring my experience to the President role in 2027, and I’d love your vote!
