I am Shaloom Sarfraz, a PhD candidate in Social Work at Massey University Auckland and your current International Student Ambassador. I am a published academic and experienced governance leader with over six years of experience across Pakistan, Europe and New Zealand. I know firsthand what it feels like to navigate a new university, a new country and a new life — sometimes without anyone truly in your corner.

That experience is why I want to serve as Student Rep. Students deserve a representative who genuinely listens and shows up consistently — not just during election season but every week of the term.

I bring a proven track record of representing institutions at national and international governance forums, contributing to policy development and leading committees. I hold two Master's degrees in Social Work with distinction, have published peer-reviewed research and have led community initiatives.

If elected I would prioritise amplifying student voices in governance decisions, improving support for international and migrant students and ensuring every student feels they belong here.
