Kia ora Massey!

I'm Ash (they/them), a second-year (ish, I'm doing blended 200 and 100 papers!) psychology distance student, and I'm running to be your distance student rep.

As an AuDHDer and wheelchair user navigating distance study, I know firsthand the flexibility and accessibility required to thrive here - and the stress of balancing both. Distance learning shouldn't mean studying in isolation or missing the fun parts of learning, and I want to ensure our online community remains connected, supportive, and accessible for everyone.

While Massey does a lot right, my goal is to keep distance study welcoming for everyone under our current political uncertainty, especially for our LGBTQ+, disabled, neurodivergent and Maori communities. Beyond making sure our diverse voices are heard in campus decisions, I'm also here to represent everyday student experiences (including our collective, existential fear of AI taking over our futures!). 

My time as a Scout, member of the scouting youth advisory group and Kea leader taught me how to keep groups connected, listen when people are struggling, and build spaces where everyone feels safe to participate.
