Below are the types of grants clubs are able to apply for. Clubs should be aware that there is always going to be a cost they will be required to cover. The maximum funding shown, is not necessarily how much you will be granted.

General Grant – Up to 70%: 
Most applications will fall within this category. Meeting and event costs, equipment, uniforms, and promotion etc.

Start-up Grant – Up to 100%: 
Essential equipment for new clubs, or funding to help a new club. Clubs may use this category during their first year of operation for assets and event costs. Clubs that have been dormant for more than 1 year may also be considered under this category.

Health and Safety Grant - Up to 70%: 
Items that have a clear link to improving health and safety of club members, e.g., First aid kits/training, other safety equipment etc.

Registration Grant – Up to 70%: 
To cover the costs of event or tournament entry/registration or to affiliate to an external body.

Travel/Accommodation grant – Up to 70%: 
To cover costs associated with traveling and accommodation within New Zealand (e.g. petrol, vehicle hire, motel accommodation). Food is NOT included in this grant type.

Restrictions

Grants cannot be used for any of the below:

  • to pay off a club debt
  • to purchase alcohol
  • Projects outside of New Zealand
  • if you have already spent the money (or do so before finding out if your grant was successful)
